Partnership to focus on innovations in advanced data analytics and operational efficiency
FALLS CHURCH, Va. – General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT), a business unit of General Dynamics, announced today that it has expanded its commercial partnership through a new strategic collaboration agreement.
Under the agreement, GDIT and IonQ will combine their expertise and resources to drive innovation and accelerate quantum computing capabilities for government missions. The two companies will co-develop advanced quantum processing and networking applications to address complex challenges across the defense, intelligence and civilian sectors, including:
- Improving spatial data analysis by processing geospatial and sensor data more effectively.
- Enhancing fraud and anomaly detection by identifying irregularities in large datasets with greater speed and accuracy.
- Optimizing supply chains and logistics by finding more efficient transport routes, evaluating supply chain performance and identifying potential risks.
- Advancing health research by modeling complex biological systems and testing potential treatments more quickly.
“Quantum computing represents a transformative opportunity for our government clients to solve previously impossible challenges,” said Ben Gianni, senior vice president and chief technology officer at GDIT. “This expanded partnership with IonQ will enable us to harness the next generation of computational power to deliver innovative mission solutions.”
“Partnering with GDIT, we will accelerate quantum computing adoption in the government, continuing IonQ’s consistent market growth,” said Rima Alameddine, IonQ’s chief revenue officer. “This collaboration marks a significant step in delivering quantum solutions that address critical challenges faced by government agencies. It allows us to leverage our combined capabilities to introduce quantum computing to government and defense sectors, supporting high-priority projects. We are excited to work closely with and learn from the experts at GDIT.”
Last year, IonQ and GDIT partnered with a major intelligence agency to advance its quantum readiness. The two companies leveraged quantum and AI technologies to enhance the agency’s data analysis and mission capabilities. This collaboration also reinforces GDIT’s broader technology investment strategy launched in 2023, which emphasized deepening relationships with commercial technology companies to advance innovation for government agencies.
GDIT is a business unit of General Dynamics, a global aerospace and defense company that offers a broad portfolio of products and services in business aviation; ship construction and repair; land combat vehicles, weapons systems and munitions; and technology products and services.
