FALLS CHURCH, Va. – General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT), a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE:GD), announced today the appointment of Kristin Seaver as vice president of strategic client engagement. Seaver will be responsible for strengthening client engagement and providing strategic direction for the company’s sector supporting federal civilian agencies.
“Kristin is an accomplished executive with a wealth of experience in all aspects of government operations, technology, and logistics,” said Jylinda Johnson, GDIT vice president and general manager for Government Operations. “Her expertise will play a critical role in supporting our customers’ digital transformation goals and mission objectives.”
Prior to joining GDIT, Seaver served the U.S. Postal Service for more than 30 years in various leadership positions, including chief retail and delivery officer, incident commander – coronavirus pandemic, and chief information officer. As chief retail and delivery officer, Seaver led efforts to transform the agency’s retail, delivery, and fleet operations. She spearheaded the operations of more than 450,000 employees who deliver 40 percent of the world’s mail and provide retail access at over 30,000 locations nationwide. She was also responsible for operating one of the largest last-mile delivery fleets of over 280,000 vehicles servicing 160 million destinations daily.
Seaver’s leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic ensured the Postal Service continued to provide universal service to the nation while protecting more than 500,000 essential employees. As the pandemic incident commander, she led engagements across major stakeholders, including Congress, Postal Service Board of Governors, and leaders of labor organizations. In June 2020, the Harris Poll rated USPS as having the best pandemic response among 100 top businesses.
As chief information officer, Seaver led digital transformation across the enterprise to modernize the legacy technology stack and capture business insights from the Postal Service’s massive data sets. She also oversaw the investment, development, and successful deployment of technologies enabling popular online services such as Informed Delivery, which provides eligible residential consumers with a digital preview of their household's incoming mail. In addition, she was instrumental in strengthening the security posture of the Postal Service through investment, governance, and risk management.
