FALLS CHURCH, Va. – General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT), a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE:GD), announced today that it was awarded a $286 million contract by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to continue providing operational services to the Benefits Coordination & Recovery Center (BCRC). The contract, awarded in April 2024, has an eight-month base period with four option years.

BCRC coordinates benefits for Medicare beneficiaries, which includes the identification of health benefits and the collection of payments from primary insurers and secondary payers. As of 2022, these activities have contributed to more than $7.6 billion in annual savings to the Medicare trust fund.

Under the contract, GDIT will provide digital modernization and mission support services, including benefits coordination; digital imaging; secondary payer assessment and debt determination; waivers and appeals; data management; and debt collection. Additionally, GDIT will continue to leverage latest technologies such as artificial intelligence to further improve efficiencies and automate business processes.

“This contract will enable us to advance CMS’s commitment to safeguard the Medicare trust fund for future generations,” said Kamal Narang, GDIT senior vice president for Federal Health. “We look forward to delivering innovative services that further streamline the coordination of health benefits for more than 67 million Medicare beneficiaries.”

For more than 40 years, GDIT has partnered with Medicare to enable access to quality care for seniors and vulnerable populations. The company operates and modernizes the largest financial accounting systems in the federal government, the Healthcare Integrated General Ledger Accounting System, that processes $1.6 trillion in payments annually for more than 160 million Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries. GDIT also hosts one of the largest clouds in the federal government for CMS that supports tens of millions of Americans through health insurance marketplace websites.
