FALLS CHURCH, Va. – General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT), a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE:GD), announced today that it was awarded a $39 million Medicaid Enterprise Benefit Management Services contract by the state of New Mexico to support its Human Services Department (HSD). The new contract has a four-year base period with four option years.
New Mexico HSD provides housing, nutrition and health assistance services, including Medicaid, to more than 40% of the state’s citizens. Its current Medicaid Management Information System – the principal IT system for claims processing, fraud detection and other program services – is being upgraded to a new, modular enterprise system.
Under the Benefit Management Services contract, the GDIT team will implement a key module of this system to streamline provider enrollment, credentialing, training and reporting. A new software tool that leverages artificial intelligence and data analytics will enable providers to efficiently submit their Medicaid application data and supporting documentation. The company will also provide outreach and training support to healthcare providers throughout the state.
"Our benefit management services will significantly reduce submission times, cut costs and enhance the overall provider experience for New Mexico’s Medicaid program,” said Scott Mack, GDIT vice president and general manager for State and Local Government. “As a result, providers will be able to spend more time on patient care.”
GDIT has a long history of supporting Medicaid programs throughout the country. For more than 20 years, GDIT has supported one of the nation’s largest Medicaid programs, Electronic Medicaid of New York (eMedNY), providing claims processing and data management. Since 2013, GDIT has provided financial and technology services to North Carolina Medicaid and other state health programs providing insurance and healthcare to 2.8 million North Carolinians. The company also supported the Arkansas Health Care Payment Improvement Initiative, decreasing the growing cost of Medicaid in the state and creating savings of $720 million in just three years.
The Benefit Management Services contract was awarded as a result of a competitive procurement, and there are multiple other modules which are operating under contracts that comprise the Medicaid Management Information System replacement project.
