Over Fifty Years of Agile Development and Mission Support

From its origins over 50 years ago as the government services arm of global telecom carrier GTE, General Dynamics IT has continued to increase our breadth and depth of capability to provide leading-edge IT services to customers ranging from the Pentagon to DHS to federal agencies to commercial telecom carriers to healthcare providers.

Growth in strength and capabilities:

1999: Our acquisition by General Dynamics accelerated our commitment to government and large enterprise clients. Our new name in 2001 – General Dynamics Network Systems -- reflected our continued focus on network and communications infrastructure for those customers.

2003 - 2006: Integration of Veridian/Signal Solutions, Creative Technology and FC Business Systems between 2003 and 2006 dramatically increased our capabilities in enterprise network services, information assurance, cyber security, network engineering and software application development and integration.

Merging with Anteon Corp. (also in 2006), a leading provider of systems engineering, integration, IT service operations and support solutions, created a full lifecycle IT services powerhouse. Renamed General Dynamics Information Technology, we immediately became the leading provider of IT solutions and services to government.

2008, 2011, 2015: The additions of ViPS and (in 2011) Vangent Inc., launched General Dynamics IT as a Tier 1-level provider of healthcare IT solutions and services, with the ability to meet large-scale requirements of customers with highly sensitive, high priority healthcare IT needs. General Dynamics Health Solutions has become the leading provider of IT services and support to government healthcare agencies, including the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services; Department of Health and Human Services and state health information exchanges.

The 2011 addition of U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) enterprise services and cloud computing provider Network Connectivity Solutions, Corp. (NETCONN) and DoD Special Operations C4ISR, Mission Support and Logistics services provider ARMA Global Corporation in 2014 reaffirmed General Dynamics IT’s commitment to mission critical IT solutions and services supporting the U.S. government’s most sensitive operations.
