Training Specialist – Unmanned Undersea Vehicles (UUV) / Undersea Warfare Specialist Trainer

HOW A TRAINING SPECIALIST WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

  • Develops; organizes; and conducts Undersea Vehicles (UUV) / Undersea Warfare training and educational programs for personnel assigned to US Navy Ships

  • Utilizes exceptional customer skills to conduct traditional classroom instruction and support technical and tactical laboratory training

  • Must be capable of conducting conventional knowledge-based classroom teaching and performance/scenario-based laboratory training.

  • Serve as a Senior Instructor to train sailors in tactical employment of the Undersea Vehicles (UUV) / Undersea Warfare systems; system capabilities and limitations; employment of automated systems; mission planning and execution; and tactical communications.  When required, would provide subject matter expertise in support of curriculum development. 

  • Must be prepared to support training and evaluation utilizing shore-based trainer requiring dynamic assessment of students in individual and team-training events. Experience with Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) or Undersea Warfare (USW) missions, processes, procedures and related technologies.

  • Prepares; reviews; and customizes curriculum lesson plans and instructor guides in support of traditional classroom teaching. Supports Formal Course Reviews and curriculum updates; conducts training Gap Analysis and provides formal feedback / recommendations for course improvement.

  • Develops; tests; maintains; and delivers moderately complex Navy Undersea Vehicles (UUV) / Undersea Warfare training programs and related materials in support of SCSTC training objectives. Establishes and reviews course content and objectives.

  • Conducts training sessions and develops criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of training activities. Maintains records of training activities; participant progress; and program effectiveness

  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned; Experience relevant to undersea warfare areas to support test and evaluation of assigned projects.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, training, or work/military experience.

  • Five (5) years of experience all facets of Unmanned Undersea Vehicles (UUVs) and tactical employment to include the management of onboard systems, planning and integration with Navy Surface, Air and Subsurface Warfare mission requirements.  Of the five years, one (1) year of experience as an Instructor/Trainer/Evaluator in a Navy Training Environment, to include curriculum maintenance, writing learning objectives, preparing test items, evaluating instructional materials and the results of instruction and counseling students on academic learning problems.

  • Experience as a qualified Knifefish UUV Operator or Technician and/or a Master/Afloat Training Specialist in support of Naval Training is a significant plus.  Must be able to support training with extended periods on your feet while instructing. Travel may be required up to 10% of time.

  • Highly desired experience with Navy systems such as Knifefish UUV, Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs), or Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs).

  • Location - Client Site

  • Secret Clearance required

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $68,000 - $92,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
