Quality Assurance Representative III (Mechanical)

Position Overview:

GDIT is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Inspector to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical inspection, with a focus on precision measurement and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Machinists with relevant experience are encouraged to apply.

As a Mechanical Inspector, you will be responsible for ensuring that all mechanical components meet the highest standards of quality and precision. You will use a variety of precision measuring tools to verify that parts conform to specifications and will work closely with our engineering and production teams to identify and address any quality issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough inspections of mechanical components to ensure compliance with engineering drawings and specifications, including GD&T.
  • Use precision measuring tools to verify dimensions, tolerances, and surface finishes.
  • Document inspection results and generate detailed reports.
  • Communicate effectively with engineering, production, and quality teams to resolve any discrepancies.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance inspection processes.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma/GED
  • 3+ years of related experience
  • Proven experience in mechanical inspection, quality control, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Proficiency in using precision measuring tools, including but not limited to:
    • Calipers
    • Micrometers
    • Height Gauges
    • Dial Indicators
    • Surface Plates
    • Optical Comparators
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • NDT experience a plus.
  • Machinist experience is highly valued and encouraged.

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely hourly rate for this position is between $21.97 - $26.45. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
