Job Description

General Dynamics Information Technology, a world leader in Defense IT Systems Integration and Services is seeking a Transformation/Process Improvement SME to lead digital transformation initiatives and insert innovations to a large complex IT organization footprint. The role involves spearheading the migration of mission critical business systems to modernized cloud platforms including collocated data centers, DOD/Army-approved hyperscale CSP based IaaS/PaaS, SaaS and leading organizational change management resulting in adoption of innovations and improved performance outcomes. This position is in support of a major IT Enterprise Services program for one of the world’s premier public engineering, design and construction engineering agency, a military branch within the U.S. Army covering a large footprint of end users ranging ~40,000 spread out through divisions, districts and local sites primarily across CONUS and a small portion in the OCONUS.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the transformation and innovation incubator process to bring in GDIT innovative solutions to the Enterprise IT organization by engaging with the program team, stakeholders, and organize delivery to support the modernization efforts.
  • Perform the SME role to work with Engineering and Operations branches and propose tailored solutions to accelerate migration of legacy business systems to hyperscale cloud instances.
  • Leverage substantial experience leading cloud migration and divestures and lead the development of cloud and other enterprise solutions by developing transition strategies to optimize/consolidate and close data centers and expand on unified colocation.
  • Responsible for leading the charge on data center migration, design/build of infrastructures on colocation platforms, and adoption of commercial IaaS/PaaS platforms.
  • Responsible for strategic transformational change and performance improvements, disaster recovery planning, supporting the authorization to operation for systems.
  • Lead small but highly trained team to modernize legacy domain environments into streamlined and efficient infrastructures that would be beneficial to end users.
  • Key role in charting the course for application rationalization for legacy business systems currently on legacy infrastructure to build readiness for migration to cloud.
  • Perform detailed analysis using a variety of methods including best practices from DOD, Army, DISA, and Cloud Service Providers including networking, systems engineering and present findings, designs and recommendations to the Enterprise Investment Review Board

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in information systems, Engineering, Business, or other technical discipline and 15+ years of experience.
  • Ten years of experience in leading and overseeing teams of more than 15 FTEs in multiple projects in federal government including roles as chief architect, lead engineer
  • Eight years of experience leading successful IT systems transformation efforts and cloud migrations
  • Five years of technology design experience by leading organizational change resulting in adoption of innovations and upgrades in improved performance outcomes.
  • Five years of demonstrated experience in integrating and maturing DevSecOps and engaging with multiple teams to build/optimize CI/CD pipelines.
  • Five years of experience in performing fit-gap analysis of transformative solutions, leading scale tests in labs and presenting recommendations to senior-level leaderships with findings, roadmap and risk assessments
  • Key Cloud Solution Architect Certifications such as: AWS Certified Solutions Architect and/or Azure, Solutions Architect Expert, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), VMware and others
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)/Cisco Network Professional (CCNP) - preferred
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional - CISSP (preferred)
  • Clearance:  Active secret DoD security clearance required
  • U.S. Citizenship is required

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Formal usage of Systems Engineering processes such as INCOSE based SE process models
  • Usage of Architecture Frameworks such as DoDAF, TOGAF and others on programs.
  • Excellent communication skills, including with technical AND nontechnical individuals.
  • Excellent critical thinking judgement and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent client-facing communication skills

Work Location:  Remote with up to 25% travel to sites across the U.S.

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $163,867 - $221,703. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
