Job Description

Our work depends on Systems Engineer joining our team to architect, engineer, and maintain cutting-edge systems supporting our Nation's cyber defense.

HOW A SYSTEMS ENGINEER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

  • Architecting, engineering, and maintaining infrastructure and systems in a cybersecurity environment.
  • Install, configure, test and perform routine maintenance on operating systems, application software, and system management tools to ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.
  • Perform administrative operation and maintenance functions of server hardware and software
  • Maintain system security and executes common practices and procedures
  • Monitor usage statistics and logs
  • Maintain baseline configurations and performs modification of configuration settings
  • Institute troubleshooting and incident response procedures
  • Troubleshoot system related problems
  • Remain current in operating systems/software analysis and technological developments and applications
  • Develop and maintain documentation on new and existing systems
  • Conduct data transfers for patch management of operating systems and software
  • Conduct Assessment & Authorization (A&A) scanning compliance functions and documentation requirements
  • Manage Change Control Board (CCB) functions for the group being supported
  • Perform other common systems engineering and systems administration functions as warranted


WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related discipline,
  • Experience: 12+ years
  • Required Technical skills:
  • Linux and VMware
  • Cisco networking devices (firewalls, routers, switches)
  • Well versed with common Virtualization technologies
  • Full technical knowledge of all phases of systems engineering
  • Desired skills and abilities:
  • NetApp or other storage technologies
  • Experience with Active Directory in various environments
  • Experience with crytographic devices, software, and concepts a plus
  • Analyze complex information and independently take appropriate actions to resolve problems
  • Guide system development and implementation planning through assessment or preparation of system engineering management plans and system integration and test plans
  • Develops technical documentation, system architecture, and system design documentation
  • Evaluates, develops, and delivers technical input to the systems engineering process
  • Validates the technical integrity of work performed and deliverables associated with the Systems Engineering area of responsibility
  • Excellent communication skills; shows tact, effective listening skills and follow through
  • Location: Herndon, VA (on customer site)

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $191,250 - $258,750. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
