Network Engineer - ISSO

GDIT is seeking highly experienced and qualified Network Engineer – ISSO to support our Mission Command (MC) training teams at the Fort Bliss, TX Mission Training Complex (MTC). HOW THE NETWORK  ENGINEER – ISSO WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

  • Interact with the ISSM to ensure synchronization. 
  • Designs, plans and builds communications networks.
  • Monitor and lead a team who build, maintain, configure, update (Server Operating systems and Applications), apply Information Assurance Vulnerability Managements (IAVMS), and Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), run the Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) tool against, and run vulnerability scans on the:  Domain Controllers (DC) servers, Hypervisors (HV), Endpoint Security Solution (ESS) servers, Network Management System (NMS) servers, Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) Security Centers (SC) and NESSUS systems, NMS (Radius), Cisco Call Manager & Cisco IP phone network, and Standalone (configuration and antivirus laptops).  
  • Configure routers, switches, and firewalls for LAN/WAN systems with appropriate network engineering and communications protocols.
  • Implement approved security measures to firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and access control lists (ACLs) to enforce security policies and monitor network traffic.
  • Deploy encryption protocols such as SSL/TLS to secure data in transit and implement authentication mechanisms like 802.1X to control access to network resources.
  • Configure communication media with concentrators, bridges, TACLANES, and other devices.
  • Monitors and performs network administration duties for updated requirements and compliance directions. and provides technical support to users.
  • Monitors and provides cross training for other technicians.
  • Ensures the team download and apply Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) updates and plug-ins manually on the ESS, ACAS SC, NESSUS, NMS, NTP and other required servers. 
  • Ensures the team updates and maintains documentation for Servers and systems. Download, apply, and maintain STIG checklists for all applicable systems to include future updates/replacement application systems (Server, Internet Explorer (IE), .NET, Red hat Linux, McAfee, Active Directory, Doman Name, ESS ePO/Firewall/Policy/Rogue Sensor/Agent Handler, Firefox, Oracle JRE, IIS Server/Site, Database, Windows 11/Privileged User, Adobe Reader, Office, and Google Chrome).
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly, annual checks and backups for logs on ESS, HVs, DCs, ACAS Security Centers, NMS and other required servers and items on checklists. 
  • Work with Information System Security Manager (ISSM) on U.S. Army Materiel Command (AMC), Installation Management Command (IMCOM), and Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security (DPTMS) projects.
  • Perform information assurance technical (IAT) II duties for Mission Training Complex (MTC) Authority to Operate (ATO) Risk Management Framework (RMF) and Network for MTC buildings.
  • ​Monitors and maintains the eMASS record, to include creating and updating POAM, SSP, diagrams, hardware/software lists and other reports as needed to and from the eMASS digital record.
  • Work with the Security Manager and ISSM to ensure DoD Command Operational Readiness Assessment (CORA) standards are followed along with DODI 8510.01, AR 25-2, DA PAM 25-2-14. 
  • Escort personnel in controlled and restricted spaces to include but not limited to, Department of Public Works (DPW) facility personnel in secure rooms for maintenance, repairs, and Computer Room Air Conditioner (CRAC) unit filter replacements, or vendor repair personnel when visiting MTC buildings.
  • Assist Hub & Spoke sites (FT Cavazos, FT Carson, FT Riley, FT Sill, JBSA), which may include travel. 
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to include but not limited to troubleshoot hardware and software problems, invoke warranties, research repair parts, and turn-in purchase requests.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Education: BA/BS in related field or equivalent years of relevant experience
  • Experience:
    • Must have a minimum of eight years of related experience in network administration, within the 8 years of experience:
    • Must have 2 years in cyber security;
    • Must have 5 years of computer experience in information systems design and management; .
    • At least 3 years of experience in analysis and design of business applications for complex large-scale or mid-tier computer systems, or LAN-based on a US Military staff (Battalion or higher);
    • 3 years of experience in the management of project, program, or site of similar size, scope and complexity.
  • Certifications:  IAT level II Certified IAW DoD 8570.01, any one of CCNA, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, SSCP
  • Required Skills and Abilities:
    • Must have administrative knowledge of Microsoft Server 2019, Red hat Linux, Windows 11, SQLEXPRESS, ESS, ACAS, and Microsoft Hyper Visor. 
    • Must hold or obtain Computer Environment (CE) certification for all assigned Operating Systems support (This can be done on an approved DOD/US Army site). 
    • Must have knowledge of EMASS, Tenable, Active Directory, GPO Management, and Domain Controllers.
    • Must understand RMF 2.0, DODI 8510.01, AR 25-2, DA PAM 25-2-14.
    • Must be capable of configuring Ethernet/Fiber Firewalls, TACLANES, switches and routers. 
    • Administrative knowledge of Call Manager, ESXi VMware, NMS Radius, and SolarWinds 
    • Analyzes customer requirements and provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.

      Monitor and Analyze network topologies, traffic, and capacity requirements.

  • Preferred Qualifications:  
    • Hold additional certifications: Security X (formerly CASP+), CEH, CFR, CySA+, Pentest+, CCNP Security, GCIA
    • Administrative knowledge of Microsoft Server 2022.
  • Security Clearance Level: Secret required to start
  • Additional Details:
    • The usual daily work conditions will be in an office environment located at the Mission Training Complex (MTC), Fort Bliss, TX. The job requires occasional lifting of computer and other equipment, generally not more than 50 lbs., usually in connection with equipment transport to off-site locations for exercise events.
    • Ability to work with little to no supervision on assigned tasks.
    • Must be able to support shifts that occur outside normal working hours to support 24/7 operations during exercise events that may be more than 40 hours per week.
  • Location: Onsite; Normal work schedule is 0730-1630, may require night or weekend work shifts depending on specific training event requirements
  • Travel Required: 10%

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $77,520 - $104,880. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
