At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a Data Center Operator supporting various health programs, you will be trusted to work on monitoring mainframe and mid-range systems as well as disaster recovery. This role will be in Rensselaer, NY. Training will be during the day for the first 1-2 months and then move to the night shift. Shift differential is offered for night shift positions!

HOW A DATA CENTER OPERATOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

  • Providing monitoring, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting support of information systems, applications, and related peripheral hardware
  • Performing all required hourly and daily system checks in accordance with prescribed schedules
  • Keeping the task manager informed of any unusual conditions or problems encountered in the performance of daily duties
  • Monitoring of systems and networks within the HPCMP Enterprise utilizing Unix/Linux workstations. Windows systems may also be used in various tasks.
  • Using a variety of interactive tools and processes to determine the health of systems and networks by performing all required hourly and daily system checks in accordance with prescribed schedules
  • Generating trouble tickets for tier 2 and 3 support. May route calls to product line specialists, application, or system support specialists.
  • Maintaining and updating record and tracking databases.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma/GED and 1+ years of experience or equivalent years of experience
  • Enterprise IT experience
  • Experience utilizing an ITSM tool such as ServiceNow
  • Willing and able to work any overnight shift (7 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • Intermediate experience working with Microsoft products, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Ability to obtain a Full BI background investigation clearance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2 or more years of related experience with Mainframe applications (ZEEK, ZEBB, SA, CA and/or IBM products) in an operations team environment
  • Working knowledge of JCL.
  • Experience using and/or working on ATL (Automated Tape Libraries).
  • Experience working with tape media.

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely hourly rate for this position is between $22.85 - $26.45. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
