Job Description

Technical Writer II

Technical Writer to support laboratory testing to military standards such as MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464, and MIL-STD-1399.

Responsibilities

  • Gather data packages and information from subject matter experts (SMEs) to develop, organize, edit, and write technical and procedural documentation
  • Draft and/or edit test plans and technical data reports using developed and mature templates
  • Collaborate with E3 lab director, SMEs, and customers to verify data and make documentation changes as necessary
  • Draft test execution procedures with input from SMEs
  • If local, no travel required. If remote, 5-10% travel to laboratory for updates and familiarization
  • If working off site, access to necessary information technology (IT) assets such as internet
  • Complete yearly training as directed for general employment

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree Associate degree preferred but High School Diploma or GED acceptable with additional experience
  • One (1) year with degree or three (3) years with HS/GED of experience revising or writing standardized material for reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instruction books, catalogs, and related technical and administrative publications concerned with work methods, procedures, installation, operation, and maintenance of machinery and other equipment.
  • Proficiency with document drafting tools and technologies including Microsoft Office (to include Visio) and Adobe products
  • Ability to obtain, possess and maintain a SECRET
  • Ability to access secure DoD data transmission sites
  • Must be a US citizen

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely hourly rate for this position is between $26.56 - $35.94. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
