Job Description

GDIT Technology Share Solutions (TSS) is seeking a Cloud Data Engineer (Azure) for the Indian Health Service Four Directions Datawarehouse (IHS 4DW) project. 

IHS, an agency within the Department of Health and Human Services, is the principal federal health care provider and health advocate for American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) people. This role supports the mission critical modernization effort of retiring its resource and patient management system (RPMS) and moving to a new electronic health record (EHR) system.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

  • Design and implement test environments that simulate production-scale data loads from 200+ healthcare facilities
  • Create models of data transformation processes to validate ETL accuracy and performance
  • Build automated testing frameworks for validating health data quality and pipeline reliability
  • Develop test data generators that accurately represent healthcare data patterns and edge cases
  • Implement load testing and performance validation solutions for Azure-based data pipelines
  • Create and maintain testing environments for HL7 FHIR data transformations
  • Assist in all data engineering aspects of the Four Directions Datawarehouse project
  • Provide technical leadership on testing architecture and validation approaches

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Technical Training, Certification(s) or Degree and 3+ years of experience or equivalent years of experience
  • Strong experience with Azure data services including Azure Data Lake Gen2, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Azure Data Factory
  • Expertise in creating test automation frameworks and performance testing tools
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL for developing test data generators and validation scripts
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code for creating reproducible test environments
  • Track record of implementing automated testing pipelines and DevOps practices
  • Experience in simulating and testing large-scale data processing systems
  • Must be able to obtain a public trust level 5 clearance, which requires residency in the U.S. for 3 of the last 5 years.

NICE TO HAVE:

  • Relevant Azure certifications such as Azure Data Engineer Associate (DP-203), Azure Database Administrator Associate (DP-300), and Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305)
  • Experience in healthcare data systems and HIPAA compliance requirements
  • Knowledge of HL7 FHIR standards and healthcare data validation
  • Advanced skills in performance testing and monitoring tools
  • Experience with distributed systems testing and failure mode simulation
  • Background in data quality assurance and validation methodologies
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and team leadership
  • Master's degree in Computer Science or related field

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $114,750 - $155,250. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
