Sr Principal Systems Engineer - Active Directory – Active Top Secret Required

HOW A SR PRINCIPAL SYSTEMS ENGINEER – Active Directory WILL MAKE AN IMPACT: 

  • Designing and implementing complex Active Directory forests and domains across an intricate network with over 10,000 users and 20,000 Active Directory objects. 

  • Providing Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS) infrastructure management. 

  • Implementing and configuring Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS), including creating and configuring domain controllers, user and group accounts, and organizational units (OUs). 

  • Working within a bastion forest solution to provide comprehensive security and management across multiple Active Directory forests. 

  • Continually monitoring the environment to ensure best practices and Federal guidelines are being followed. 

  • Creating advanced monitoring strategies for monitoring and reporting the health of Active Directory components. 

  • Recording problem symptoms and status information in a timely fashion and communicating internally within IT and externally with the customer through problem resolution. 

  • Conducting complex troubleshooting and repair tasks on Active Directory, Windows Server 2008-2019, Domain Controllers, user authentication and other operational systems as needed. 

  • Leading efforts to ensure data/media recoverability by following a schedule of system backups and database archive operations. 

  • Conducting advanced hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines. 

  • Developing performance and security plans for computers that meet the needs of network users. 

  • Evaluating existing systems and plans long-term strategies. 

  • Participating in on-call rotation (as required) for emergency technical support and planned maintenance activities. 

  • Potentially serving as a team or task lead. 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED: 

  • Education: BS/BA or equivalent 

  • Required Experience: 17+ years of relevant experience 

  • Required Technical Skills: DoD 8140/8570 IAT II compliance required 

  • Security Clearance Level: Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility and a T5 or T5R within the last 5 years 

  • Required Skills and Abilities: Highly motivated, self-starter with great communications skills; effective problem solver; able to thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment 

  • Location: Washington, District of Columbia; limited telework may be available

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $169,065 - $228,735. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
