Job Description

Deliver simple solutions to complex problems as a ServiceNow Configuration Manager at GDIT. Here, you’ll tailor cutting-edge solutions to the unique requirements of our clients. The ServiceNow Configuration Manager will play a pivotal role in managing and optimizing Configuration Management processes, with a focus on ServiceNow and CMDB (Configuration Management Database) development. This role requires advanced expertise in creating and maintaining technical relationships, dynamic CI groups, and service mappings, as well as ensuring comprehensive configuration control during all phases of the product lifecycle. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience in ServiceNow development, CMDB administration, and stakeholder collaboration, and will contribute to driving technology release strategy, execution, and continuous improvement.

HOW A SERVICENOW CONFIGURATION MANAGER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

ServiceNow CMDB Management:

  • Design and establish configuration management documentation, ensuring alignment with best practices
  • Create and maintain dynamic CI (Configuration Item) groups and relationships within the CMDB
  • Develop and implement ServiceNow service mappings to align technical and business services
  • Configure and manage transform maps to automate CI creation and modification processes
  • Ensure data integrity and consistency in the CMDB by adhering to industry standards

Configuration Control and Documentation:

  • Authorize the release of drawings and changes specified by Program Management and other functional groups
  • Provide advice and guidance on methods, procedures, and requirements to individuals responsible for documentation
  • Manage and track all configuration items, including their relationships and dependencies, within the ServiceNow platform

Development and Automation:

  • Build, configure, and customize application modules, panels, and reports in ServiceNow
  • Develop tools and scripts to enhance build and release processes, focusing on automation and efficiency
  • Design a pipeline that minimizes manual involvement and fosters continuous improvement
  • Collaborate with other departments to implement best practices for release tools and processes, improving productivity
  • Drive technology release strategy, execution, and improvements across the development lifecycle

Testing and Troubleshooting:

  • Troubleshoot and resolve testing issues, ensuring smooth delivery of configurations and integrations
  • Maintain end-to-end availability, security, and performance of mission-critical release practices and environments

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, asset management, change management, engineering, and program management, to ensure alignment on configuration and service mapping requirements
  • Provide training and documentation to stakeholders for effective use of ServiceNow tools and features


WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Technical Training, Certification(s) or Degree AND 3+ years of experience or equivalent years of experience
  • Experience with ServiceNow development, CMDB management, or configuration management processes
  • Proficiency in ServiceNow components, including CMDB, Service Mapping, and Transform Maps
  • Strong scripting skills (JavaScript, PowerShell, or similar) for automation and customization
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and continuous integration practices
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
  • Adaptable to dynamic environments and evolving business needs
  • Proactive in identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing soluti
  • Ability to coach and provide guidance to less-experienced professionals and serve as a team or task lead
  • US Citizenship is required
  • Must obtain and maintain a Public Trust with the DOED

NICE TO HAVE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Certification in ServiceNow (e.g., ServiceNow Certified System Administrator).
  • ITIL certification or strong understanding of ITIL principles
  • Experience with agile development methodologies
  • Knowledge of service discovery tools and techniques

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $75,067 - $95,942. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
