Job Description

GDIT is seeking an Entry level, Mid level and Senior Site Switching Technician to help support SCSC Wallops Island Navy Testing and Development program. 

As a Site Switching Tech, for our Testing and Development program at Wallops Island, Virginia you will be responsible for assessing, troubleshooting, and performing preventive and corrective maintenance on Layer 1 Network Switching Systems to include: APCON, PURVIS, GET, DTS, NETSCOUT, and CISCO switches.  Conducting Network Switching hardware and software installations.  Senior level technician will also be concerned with the design, evaluation, planning, testing and operation of new switches to support new equipment and systems for government, military and/or scientific uses.

In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Perform switch testing, break and relink switch paths to support customer set ups, investigate and correct Network switching issues, install/remove new and old equipment and cables to include low level serial, parallel, and fiber optic. Attend working group meetings with engineers to discuss new switch equipment needs, cables and installation layouts for new baseline equipment, and how to integrate existing equipment with the new.

Qualifications:

  • Active DoD Secret Level Security Clearance

  • BS (or equivalent experience)

  • 4-6 years experience

  • Experience with equipment design principles

  • Familiarity with 2D/3D engineering design & manufacturing tools (AutoCAD).

  • Experience with documentation development including drawings, technical manuals (operation, assembly, troubleshooting, and repair)

  • Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $56,680 - $75,319. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
