Engineering Technician I (Secret Clearance Required)

GDIT is seeking a Telecommunications/Electronics Technician - I to support the C5ISR system/equipment installations, de-installations services, and procurement of installation materials in support of USAISEC projects worldwide. Many installation and de-installation efforts will be conducted in operational Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C5ISR) facilities.  

Work locations are in the Continental United States (CONUS) and Outside the Continental United States (OCONUS).  Selected candidate must be able to travel 50-75% to both CONUS and OCONUS locations.

How a Telecommunications/Electronics Technician - I will make an impact:
  • Performs installation activities identified in the EIP.
  • Plans, integrates, designs, and tests information systems.
  • Provides quality control inspections, reviews, and develops discrepancy reports.
  • Provides technical proficiency and quality control oversight.
  • Develops weekly/bi-weekly activities reports and attends meetings.
  • Develops Trip Report and QC Packages.
  • Directs and leads documentation of the configuration changes at each site.
  • Develops equipment and system test plans. Proficient in using common test equipment (e.g. digital and Ethernet test sets, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power meters/analyzers).
  • Proficient in testing communications and power equipment/systems and following standard test procedures.
  • Must be proficient at trouble-shooting problems with telecommunications equipment, to include system interfaces, and power/ground issues.
  • Proficient at troubleshooting and activating circuits.

What you’ll need to succeed (Required):
  • Associate’s Degree and a minimum of 1 years’ experience requited.  An additional 2 years of experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • Active Secret clearance with T3 investigation required.
  • Valid U.S. passport and driver’s license required
  • Current BICSI Copper or Fiber certification required.
  • 3 years of telecommunications infrastructure experience with classified and unclassified DOD facilities and DOD networks.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in two or more of the following specialties: Fiber optics (MMF and SMF), CAT3/CAT6 copper (UTP/STP), Quality control monitoring, VoIP systems and data networks, Power, Test and evaluation, Firestopping, Videoconferencing, TEMPEST regulations, Multi-media systems, Technical writing, Grounding, bonding, shielding, Inside plant cable pathway, Telecommunication/equipment room, Surveying, A/V Systems.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communications skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage time efficiently. 
  • Dedicated to problem solving and process analysis.
  • Ability to work in a group or alone.
  • Ability to travel 50-75% CONUS & OCONUS.

The hourly rate for this position will be determined by the applicable Area Wage Determination (AWD) for Service Contract Act. (SCA)

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely hourly rate for this position is between $18.82 - $25.46. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
