At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a Senior Systems Administrator, you will help ensure today is safe and tomorrow is smarter. Our work depends on a Senior Systems Administrator joining our team in Norfolk, VA supporting the Commander Navy Installations Command (CNIC).

CNIC enables and sustains naval forces from the Shore by designing, developing and delivering integrated shore capabilities to the Fleet, Fighter and Family.

HOW OUR SENIOR SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

  • Manages the functionality and efficiency of a group of computers running on one or more operating systems, specifically Linux and Windows

  • Maintains the integrity and security of servers and systems.

  • Manages active directory settings Collaborates with other system engineers or application owners to design solutions for customers.

  • Linux Administration

  • Caching and Authoritative DNS Administration

  • Fiber Switch Configuration / Upkeep

  • SAN Administration / Troubleshooting

  • Commvault Processes / Schedules

  • Commvault Administration / Troubleshooting

  • Identifies hardware, software and services required to meet customer needs.

  • Manages system stability, operation, and scalability.

  • Provide technical guidance for troubleshooting systems and designing new solutions.

  • Evaluate current or developing technologies to consider for implementation weighing such factors as cost, compatibility, and usability.

  • Communicate with customers to understand current and future requirements for their systems and be able to speak on their behalf to the configuration management team.

  • Document design specifications, installation instructions, new processes, and procedures. Perform ongoing hardware and software maintenance to include installing or upgrade hardware or software.

  • Perform patching as assigned.

  • Perform SCAP/STIG functions as assigned when Quarterly STIG updates are released.

  • Configure servers and appliances to meet functional specifications and cybersecurity requirements.

  • Evaluate existing systems to suggest changes to meet organizational requirements.

  • Communicate project information through technical reports and presentations.

  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.

  • Prepare system documentation, including system configuration, administration guides, standard operating procedures and concept of operations as required.

  • Participates in special projects as required.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Security Clearance Level: Active Top Secret clearance (Secret with T5 is acceptable)

  • Required Experience: 6 - 8 years of experience

  • Required Certifications: Current Security+ CE certification

  • Education: Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline (equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience accepted).

  • Required Technical Skills: Experience in Systems Administration Linux, Active Directory, Storage, Virtualization, and IA/Cyber Security compliance required. Hands-on STIG/SCAP experience required.

  • Location: Onsite in Norfolk, VA.

  • Position Availability: This position is pending funding.

  • US Citizenship Required

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Microsoft Operating Systems (Windows Server 2008/2012, Windows 10 SHB, etc.)

  • Active Directory (2008/2012) group policies design and implementation

  • Implementing and supporting Microsoft BackOffice products (Exchange, SharePoint, SMS)

  • Operating master consoles to monitor the performance of computer systems and networks, and to coordinate computer network access and use.

  • VMware vSphere 6 administration

  • SAN Storage Design, fiber switches and administration

  • Citrix, VDI, Hyper-V desktop design and administration

  • Working knowledge of server hardware (RAID, clustering, virtualization, etc.) TCP/IP protocol, NTP, DHCP, DNS, etc.

  • Knowledge of MS Forefront Identity Management a plus

  • Microsoft SQL 2012/2014 and MySQL administration a plus

  • PowerShell a plus

  • Understanding of IT Security best practices to meet DOD STIGs

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $91,034 - $123,164. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
