Job Description

Seize your opportunity to make a personal impact as an Operations Director in support of the Flight Operations Directorate (FOD) at NASA’s Johnson Space Center (JSC) which touches every program and part of sending humans to space. FOD Mission Systems currently supports the International Space Station (ISS) Program, including International Partner (IP) and Commercial Visiting Vehicles, the Commercial Crew Program (CCP), and the Moon to Mars Programs. Mission Systems supporting these programs are under development and/or modification in concert with program formulation and implementation.

HOW AN OPERATIONS DIRECTOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT: 

  • Responsible for 24x7 operations of the Mission Systems equipment and its interfaces for the JSC FOD Network Operations Center (NOC), the Support Center (SC), and the Mission Systems Security Center (MSSC)

  • The GDIT Operations Director shall integrate 24/7/365 operations and drive consistency, quality, efficiencies and innovative techniques, and standardization into maintenance, and sustaining engineering of mission systems, mockup management, test direction, and facility management

  • Will have full authority to commit labor force and other required resources to meet the overall requirements in support of NASA Johnson Space Center FOD human space flight

  • Provide operations support including security operations and implementing security protocols for SECRET and TOP SECRET/SCI communications and systems and any other COMSEC equipment necessary for ongoing operations

  • Provide management of the configuration of operational environments

  • Provide monitoring of the health and status of equipment on the networks

  • Provide monitoring, configuration, and management of communications

  • Provide restoration of support for mission, simulations, test operations and service issues

  • Manage operations data, and implement operations processes and plans as required by Data Requirements Descriptions (DRDs)

  • Provide weekly management briefings up to the TOP SECRET/SCI level as required

  • Manage tracking and monitoring of classified assets as required

  • Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace and ensuring safety is the highest priority in the workplace including compliance with all environmental & safety and quality assurance requirementsE

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:  

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, and/or other related field

Required Experience:

  • 12+ years supervisory and systems operations experience of a flagship, human space flight and / or launch program preferably within NASA

  • Must have significant experience in operations of mission control center preferably with human space flight at JSC

Security Clearance Level:

  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain a TS/SCI security clearance; highly qualified candidates with a prior or active clearance (Secret or above) may be considered

Travel:

  • Up to 10% at times including possible international travel

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $153,000 - $207,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
