Job Description

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Release Management Senior Analyst to join our team.  This role is critical to ensuring the stability and reliability of software releases by identifying, planning, prioritizing and streamlining user stories as per the release process ensuring seamless delivery of software services to users .  The Senior Release Manager will have extensive experience managing software releases across different environments, strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, excellent communication skills, leadership abilities to guide cross-functional teams, proficiency with release management tools, and the ability to identify and mitigate risks throughout the release process, often within an Agile framework.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Expertise:
    • Deep knowledge of CI/CD principles and tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, etc.) 
    • Familiarity with version control systems (Git) 
    • Understanding of deployment automation tools and techniques 
    • Experience with AWS cloud platforms
  • Release Management:
    • Proven ability to develop and execute release plans and strategies 
    • Experience managing complex release cycles across multiple applications and environments 
    • Expertise in risk assessment and mitigation for software releases 
    • Capability to prioritize and manage release dependencies 
  • Agile and DevOps Practices:
    • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) 
    • Experience working in a DevOps culture, collaborating closely with development and operations teams 
  • Communication and Leadership:
    • Excellent communication skills to effectively convey technical information to diverse stakeholders 
    • Proven leadership abilities to guide cross-functional teams through the release process 
    • Ability to facilitate collaboration and resolve conflicts between teams 
  • Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills:
    • Strong analytical skills to identify root causes of release issues and implement corrective actions 
    • Ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities and troubleshoot complex problems 

Typical Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain release plans and schedules
  • Lead release coordination meetings with cross-functional teams
  • Conduct release readiness reviews and risk assessments
  • Manage release communication across stakeholders
  • Monitor release progress and identify potential roadblocks
  • Implement release automation and continuous delivery practices
  • Continuously improve release processes and identify opportunities for optimization 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT service management or a related role, with a focus on release management
  • Strong knowledge of ITIL practices, with ITIL Foundation certification preferred
  • Proven experience conducting root cause analysis and implementing preventative measures
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, with attention to detail
  • Proficient using ITSM tools like ServiceNow and JIRA for Agile development
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with technical and non technical stakeholders
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment
  • Experience in federal government contract space
  • Must have experience in ServiceNow, Confluence, JIRA and Google Workspace
  • ITIL V4 or similar certifications will be preferred.

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $114,525 - $132,250. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
