Job Description

The world of investing is fascinating yet complex. While hundreds of first -time investors are turning to the markets to help pay for their homes, send their children to college and secure their futures the mission of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is becoming all the more vital.  GDIT is excited to support the SEC in as it seeks to protect investors, maintain fair, orderly, and efficient markets, and facilitate capital formation.  The SEC ISS program is a comprehensive IT program charged with operating, managing, and advancing the SEC's IT infrastructure.

Our dynamic program team of IT leaders and large and small business partners is seeking bright, energetic and talented individuals to join us as we bring our innovative IT Service Delivery solutions to SEC. Currently, we are seeking a Sr. Network Engineer in Washington, DC. The selected candidate must be a US Citizen (without dual citizenship) able to obtain a Public Trust Suitability clearance, per contract requirements.

This Sr. Network Engineer position provides an excellent opportunity to apply and extend your skills in a complex and varied environment and experience new technologies.  The Engineer will be required to design, operate, maintain, support and interact with complex LAN, WAN, MAN and wireless networks in a production environment – specifically with Cisco Nexus 3K, 5K, 7K, 9K and Cisco IOS-XE 9500, 8300, 1100, 3560, 9407, 9300, ASR1009, 3850, 4500 switches and routers, Cisco Prime Infrastructure, Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE), Cisco Wireless Access Points (WAP) and Wireless LAN Controllers (WLC). The Engineer must have the understanding and ability to implement Cisco and industry best practice solutions into a production environment when needed.

The engineer will also be supporting additional networking equipment such as F5 load-balancers and external carrier networking and cloud services.  Must be able to interact knowledgably with security systems and personnel. 

The position is in Washington, DC with some travel to remote data centers and regional offices within the US as required infrequently. Periodic on-call support and after-hours work are a requirement.

The engineer must have analytic skills to use tools such as Wireshark, Ansible, Kiwi CatTools, SecureCRT, Cisco DNA Center, Cisco Prime, ISE, and other similar tools to assess network performance, troubleshoot issues, assess and correct problems, and automate configuration changes.  The engineer must possess skills in business automation applications and the ability to use tools such as Visio to draw complex network scenarios and to document network architecture or proposed solutions. The engineer must be versed in assessing industry best practices and baseline compliance documents and altering network configurations to abide by such standards.


Duties:

In this role you will primarily be responsible for:

  • Configuration and troubleshooting Cisco routers and switches including but not limited to the following models: Cisco Nexus 3K, 5K, 7K, 9K and Cisco IOS-XE 9500, 8300, 1100, 3560, 9407, 9300, ASR1009, 3850, 4500

  • Configuration and troubleshooting Cisco enterprise wireless (Cisco WLCs, Cisco WAPs)

  • Configuration and troubleshooting of F5 Load Balancers (LTM and GTM)

  • Managing Network related tickets through ServiceNow

Minimum Requirements:

  • 5 or more years’ experience supporting an enterprise class production network

  • Must have experience with Kiwi, DHCP, TACACS, and Out-of-Band (OOB) networks.

  • U.S. Citizenship (without dual citizenship) per contract requirements

It is highly desirable that candidates have:

  • CCNA or CCNP certification

  • BS in computer science or related field

  • Skill in using analytics, logic and reasoning to troubleshoot issues and find the best solutions to overcome challenges

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks with conflicting priorities

  • Previous experience supporting a Federal Government Agency

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $110,500 - $149,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
