Job Description

General Dynamics Information Technology is seeking a Project Coordinator, role on an existing contract to support the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and their critical mission needs. 

 
As the IT Project Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in FDA’s IT modernization by ensuring the seamless execution and delivery of IT projects. The driving force behind our business growth is a skilled and dedicated project management team. We’re searching for a highly qualified project coordinator to help us maintain our position as an innovative authority. The ideal candidate will have production experience and strong skills in work-plan development and progress tracking. The project coordinator will also prepare and present updates regularly to relevant management channels, ensuring that our goal of innovation is being achieved.

This role is hybrid with 2 days a week onsite in Silver Spring, MD and/or at the GDIT office in Gaithersburg, MD. Travel expenses will not be reimbursed. 

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as Liaise with managers and clients to define project requirements, scopes, and objectives that align with organizational goals
  • Analyze project progress and, when necessary, adapt scope or timeline to achieve optimal results
  • Assign roles and tasks to team members based on their individual strengths and abilities
  • Help build the skill sets of team members and share learnings with other
  • Achieve organizational goals while adhering to standards and best practices
  • Ensure that all aspects of a project are organized and in conformance with timeline and deliverables requirement
  • Develop and maintain project performance database that tracks overall progress and achievement of milestones
  • Assign and monitor resources effectively to boost project efficiency and maximize deliverables output
  • Report project risks and outcomes to appropriate management channels, and escalate issues according to project work plan
  • Serve as point of communication between internal teams and external teams
  • Ensure comprehensive documentation is maintained for all project activities, including updating project management tools like JIRA and Confluence.

Required Skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, IT, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Five or more years of experience in project coordination
  • Experience in coordinating teams and clients
  • Proven success in a corporate setting, working with all levels of management
  • Experience with Atlassian tools, (JIRA, Confluence), Microsoft Tools (including Project)
  • Experience with influencing and driving change within the organization
  • Enterprise level experience with large and complex IT modernization efforts
  • Presentation skills including capturing meeting minutes

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Prior HHS experience
  • PMP (Project Management Professional)
  • Professional Agile certification, including SAFe methodologies
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team culture; aligning closely with both FDA and GDIT leadership
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent stakeholder management abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and under strict deadlines driven by mandates
  • Ability to articulate business process driven requirements into streamlined technical requirements
  • Ability to thrive in dynamic environments, showing flexibility and resilience when faced with rapidly changing requirements and technologies

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $93,500 - $126,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
