ITE Server and Network Administrator Job Description

Network duties

•             Responsible for operating and maintaining lab environment switches. Duties include, shutting down, starting up and configuring switches.  Also, in charge for maintaining Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) to DoD standards and troubleshooting.

•             Additional administration services provided to the following systems, Cisco Identity Service Engine (ISE), F5/BIG-IP, Cisco Nexus Dashboard Fabric Controller (NDFC) and Spectrum. Management of these systems are the same as duties listed above.

•             Execute Assigned Service Interruptions (ASIs) for maintenance or upgrades. Document and submit After Action Reports (AAR) if applicable and properly report status to management and stake holders.

Server duties

•             Responsible for the administration, maintenance and support of the organization’s lab IT systems and infrastructure including managing servers, ensuring system availability and implementing solutions to improve system performance and security.

•             Oversees the installation, configuration and maintenance of servers including physical and virtual environments.

•             Manages the Active Directory, and other core IT services.

•             Monitors systems performance and troubleshoots moderate to complex issues to ensure high availability and reliability.

•             Performs maintenance such as patch management, updates and backups.

•             Plans and executes systems upgrades and hardware/software installations.

•             Ensures systems are updated with latest security patches and software updates.

•             Implements and maintains security measures to protect systems from unauthorized access and vulnerabilities.

•             Conducts security audits and assessments to ensure compliance with organization policies and regulatory requirements.

•             Manages and tests backup and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and availability.

General duties

•             Supports the ITE Manager in conducting Release Management tasks aligned to network and server functions for solutions coming from vendors/Tier 3 engineers to include System Integration Test / System Acceptance Test (SIT/SAT) coordination.

•             Participates in various projects in the development of advanced technical solutions for the management of software, hardware, configurations, and architectures. Provides interpretation to network and server system matters that are highly complex in nature.

•             Performs Release Management tasks for solutions approved for implementation and deployment into GEF production. Assists in the creation of Implementation Plans and master project plans with the ITE Manager.

•             Develops and maintains disaster recovery plans for critical systems and services.

•             Participates in disaster recovery drills and business continuity planning.

•             Maintains detailed documentation of system configurations, procedures and changes.

•             Creates reports on system performance, security incidents and other key metrics.

•             Provides recommendations for system improvements based on analysis and industry best practices.

•             May assist in the development of IT policies and procedures.

•             May coach and provide guidance to less-experienced professionals.

What you'll need to be successful:

  • BS and 10 or more years of network administration experience (will consider other years of experience in lieu of degree.
  • Must be knowledgeable and experienced in VMWare NSX or CISCO VXLAN
  • Must be knowledgeable in creating a PPS (Ports, protocols, & services) request
  • 8570 certification: IAT Level II Certification (CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, or SSCP
  • Secret DoD Security Clearance
  • Computing environment certificate, CCNA or equivalent within 6 months of hire.

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $97,750 - $132,250. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
