HOW A DATA ARCHITECT AND MODELER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

  • Collaborate with the Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of the Navy (DON) IT domains to support the goals of our client in alignment with DON Chief Data Officer (CDO) and improve the availability of trusted data for decision making and insights
  • Generate high level operational concept documents, describing the interactions between the subject architecture and its environment, and between the architecture and external systems
  • Utilizing Jira or similar project management tools, create, modify, maintain and document baselines for transformation efforts and standardizations across solution to DON CDO policies and regulations; and translate enterprise or business needs into long-term information architecture patterns and solutions
  • Provide data modeling and data validation services that produce flexible, extensible data structure design solutions that support effective business decisions; and create and manage multiple data design deliverables including data models, data diagrams, data flows and corresponding metadata within designated timeline
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and sustainment of various strategic data architecture initiatives around Master Data Management (MDM), Data Quality, Data Management Policies/standards, data governance and metadata management

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Technical Training, Certification(s) or Degree, and 3+ years of experience or equivalent years of experience
  • Relevant experience in modeling processes and data using architecture discipline and industry modeling standards
  • Knowledge of Cameo Data Modeler
  • Ability to define problems, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and be able to manage multiple project deadlines.
  • Ability to take initiative, and thrive in environments with minimal supervision.
  • Position is contingent upon DON Security receiving favorable results on background investigation of CLA prior to start of job. If results are not favorable, the candidate will be declined the job.
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Active Secret Clearance

 

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of Business Enterprise Architecture (BEA) and DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF)
  • Knowledge of modeling practices and tools such Unified Modeling Language (UML) and Systems Modeling Language (SysML)
  • Experience in utilizing data management, enterprise repository, data modeling, data quality, and data mapping tools
  • Current Network+, Security+, or higher as defined by DoD CIO Information Assurance (IA) Certification requirements
  • Systems Architecture / Data Architecture / Data Engineering experience
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills are a must as is the ability to embrace change in a positive and enthusiastic manner.
  • Ability to engage well with others and passionate about providing an exemplary customer experience.
  • Prior experience supporting the Department of the Navy a plus

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $106,250 - $143,750. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
