Job Description

At GDIT, people are our differentiator. Our work depends on a Database Analyst Advisor joining the F-35 Lightning II Joint Program Office (JPO) office in Arlington, VA.

The Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) F-35 IT program support contract provides knowledge-based, information assurance and cybersecurity IT services to the F-35 Lightning II Joint Program Office (JPO). Our services include digital media and strategic communication support, program management, enterprise performance management, enterprise architecture, implementation of emerging capabilities and requirements, life cycle management, operations & maintenance, enterprise data management, service desk support and IT training.

HOW OUR COMMUNICATIONS SPECAILIST ADVISOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

  • Provides all activities related to the administration of computerized databases.

  • Projects long-range requirements for database administration and design in conjunction with other managers in the information systems function.

  • Designs, creates, and maintains databases in a client/server environment.

  • Conducts quality control and auditing of databases in a client/server environment to ensure accurate and appropriate use of data.

  • Advises users on access to various client/server databases.

  • Designs, implements, and maintains complex databases with respect to JCL, access methods, access time, device allocation, validation checks, organization, protection and security, documentation, and statistical methods.

  • Applies knowledge and experience with database technologies, development methodologies, and front-end (e.g., COGNOS)/back-end programming languages (e.g., SQL).

  • Performs database programming and supports systems design.

  • Includes maintenance of database dictionaries, overall monitoring of standards and procedures, file design and storage, and integration of systems through database design.  Integrates data from various files, including Microsoft Access, Excel, SQL, and Oracle. 

  • Performs Independent Verification & Validation (IV&V) and Quality Control/Quality Assurance. Administer, test, and implement computer databases, applying knowledge of database management systems. Coordinate changes to computer databases.

  • Perform patching and STIG'ing for SQL databases.

  • May plan, coordinate, and implement security measures to safeguard computer databases.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED (Required):

  • Security Clearance Requirement: Must be able to obtain a Secret clearance. Active Secret clearance referred.

  • Required Experience: 6+ years Database administration, database security and integrity, programming and writing scripts in MS-SQL, T-SQL or UNIX, development, and management, including design and creation using best practices, importing, exporting, indexing, back-up, data processing, and database management.

  • Required Certifications: (451) System Administrator – Basic, Intermediate OR Advanced or Database Administrator – Basic, Intermediate or Advanced

  • Education: BS/BA degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Systems Management or a related technical or IT discipline. Allowable Substitution: 6 years of additional related experience without a Degree or 4 additional years of related experience with an AA/AS degree.

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $116,979 - $138,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
