General Dynamics Awarded $138 Million to Support Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center

FAIRFAX, Va. – General Dynamics Information Technology, a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), has been awarded a contract by the U.S. Army Medical Command to provide the Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center (DVBIC) with clinical site support services. The five-year contract has a potential value of $138 million if all options are exercised. 

Under this contract, General Dynamics will provide traumatic brain injury specialists, healthcare providers and care coordinators at 15 U.S. Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs medical treatment facilities located throughout the United States. The company will also conduct epidemiological studies, tracking those treated at DVBIC facilities and measuring the impact of clinical interventions and provided education on long term health and occupational outcomes. The company anticipates hiring 185 employees to support this program. 

“General Dynamics supports DVBIC on many of its core programs and we will leverage this experience to bring additional value to this program,” said Marcus Collier, senior vice president of the Health and Civilian Solutions Division for General Dynamics Information Technology.  “We are committed to providing highly qualified health care providers to ensure service members, their dependents and veterans with traumatic brain injury receive the high-quality care they deserve.” 

DVBIC is the primary traumatic brain injury component of the Defense Centers of Excellence for Psychological Health and Traumatic Brain Injury.  Its mission is to serve active duty military, their dependents and veterans with traumatic brain injury through state-of-the-art medical care, innovative clinical research initiatives and educational programs. In addition, the center conducts an extensive research program and provides education about brain injuries to families, the public and clinical providers. 

General Dynamics currently provides program management services to DVBIC as well as coordination of information systems and technology services, including phone lines and computer access for DVBIC headquarters in Washington, D.C
