General Dynamics’ acquisition of CSRA creates a government technology juggernaut that climbs to the top of the 2018 Washington Technology Top 100 list
Each year, Washington Technology ranks the government contractors that are providing essential technology solutions and services to the federal government. This Washington Technology Top 100 List is determined by the value of their prime contracts, and illustrates which firms are the most heavily relied upon by the federal government and its agencies to deliver the next generation and innovative technologies that help them better accomplish their mission.
After 22 years in the top spot on the list, Lockheed Martin was unseated by Leidos in 2017. And now, just one year later, Leidos has been unseated by the new General Dynamics.
This startling shift at the top of the rankings is a direct result of recent corporate growth and M&A activity, which included the acquisition of CSRA by General Dynamics. This acquisition resulted in a combined technology services and solutions company with a combined $9.9 Billion in revenue.
The acquisition of CSRA is just one of many acquisitions in a government contracting industry that has seen an incredible amount of growth activity and consolidation in the past few years. Much of this new activity is a result of opportunities that are being created by the current administration’s desire to recapitalize the country’s military and a wide-ranging need for IT modernization across federal agencies.
“We’re cautiously optimistic that with the new administration and recapitalization at the Defense Department and some of the predominant civilian agencies…there are reasons for optimism,” Dan Johnson, executive vice president of General Dynamics’ information systems and technology group, told Ross Wilkers of Washington Technology.
The new General Dynamics has immense expertise working with trusted technology companies, as well as the startups and emerging growth companies that are developing the most innovative and revolutionary new technologies. The company also has a deep well of knowledge and experience in working collaboratively with government entities to help them better and more efficiently accomplish their missions through a combination of established and emerging IT solutions. This ensures that General Dynamic’s government customers are always on the cutting edge.
The new General Dynamics leverages the abilities and capabilities of one of the most talented and trusted pools of IT professionals in the region that are committed to serving the government and dedicated to bringing public sector best practices to bear for government organizations and federal agencies. This ensures that General Dynamics will remain the federal government’s provider of choice for IT solutions – and on top of the Washington Technology Top 100 list – for years to come.
