CSRA Will Support HHS and NIH Researchers Transport and Protect Mass Amounts of Research and Data

FALLS CHURCH, VACSRA Inc. (NYSE:CSRA) will be providing network and security services to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Center for Information Technology (CIT). Through this $64 million task order, SRA International Inc., a subsidiary of CSRA Inc., will be responsible for the continued support of CIT through the design, implementation, and operation of NIHnet. CSRA also will support the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) department-wide Trusted Internet Connection (TIC). The task order includes a one-year base period and four one-year options.

Through this award, we will support CIT’s vision of building, operating, modernizing, and securing the backbone of their network and enable NIH researchers and administrators to execute their life-saving missions.”

CIT deploys a variety of technologies to interconnect and secure the many networks of NIH’s 27 different institutes and centers, as well as HHS’ Operating Divisions (OPDIVs) and other government agencies. CSRA will support CIT’s core mission in this regard to provide reliable, fast, and secure connectivity to the NIH community in support of their research missions.

The following services will be provided by CSRA to CIT under this task order:

  • Network Operations
  • Systems Monitoring
  • TIC Operations
  • Network Engineering
  • Network Security
  • Network Performance Management

CSRA will also assist CIT in addressing emerging trends and challenges across NIH and HHS, including:

  • Increasing the importance of transporting large data sets
  • Facility infrastructure upgrades
  • Increases in Virtual Private Network (VPN) and wireless network utilization
  • Improved Quality of Service (QoS) configuration management
  • Network virtualization, such as Software Defined Network (SDN)
